Biography

 

Nat is the founder and principal of Welch Consulting, which focuses on improving organizational performance and effectiveness by leveraging knowledge, networks, and intellectual capital.     Welch Consulting helps leaders and organizations achieve new levels of financial and organizational performance for their companies using:

 

  • Peer Assists:  Facilitated workshops that bring together peers to solve pressing, critical business issues by tapping into the knowledge and experience of expert peers both inside and outside the firm.
  • Communities of Practice: Helping firms with all aspects of the process of defining, creating sustaining and measuring CoPs; powerful expert networks in organizations that share knowledge and best practices across corporate silos, drive innovation, and help develop centers of excellence.
  • Organizational Network Analysis:  A diagnostic tool that provides a visual map of the “hidden” organization that shows not only how work actually gets done, but also reveals the value-creating connections between network members and provides specific metrics to quantify organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborative Business Relationships: In affiliation with The Rhythm of Business, a consultancy and research group in Newton, MA, Nat helps companies assess, quantify, change, and improve the performance of critical relationships with customers, suppliers and partners.
  • Collaborative Technologies Adoption: Methodologies that help companies improve the speed and efficacy of their investments in collaborative technologies.
  • Sales Performance: With 20 years of experience running sales and marketing, Nat helps organizations ramp up their performance. Combining his expertise with collaborative and network tools, Nat can rapidly improve results for young company sales and marketing teams.

 

Nat is a cofounder of the Organizational Network Analysis Practice (ONAPrac) a network of practioners,  an advisor to the Learning Innovation Laboratory (LILA) at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, and was involved in initial phase of the Network Roundtable at the University of Virginia’s Darden School, where he co-led the Corporate Transformation and Social Networks research group. 

 

Prior to founding Welch Consulting, Nat was at Viant Corporation, an e-business consulting firm where led Business Development efforts in the Financial Services, High Technology, and Defense sectors. For seventeen years prior to that he led Sales, Marketing and Business Development efforts at two financial services software firms involved in cash management and Asset Backed securities.

 

Nat grew up and lives in Concord, MA with his wife and four children. He is an avid net-weaver, hikes, a kayaks, bikes, collects antique maps, and a meteorological maven.  He received his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979 and his BA Economics from the University of Rochester in 1977.
